2 Weeks Left to Apply for the GCI Fellowship 2019! Join us in Japan!

The GCI Fellowship Application Deadline: January 31, 2019 at 11:59PM EST

Are you a current freshman, sophomore or junior in secondary school interested in making an impact and becoming a better global citizen? Do you know someone who is? There are only 2 weeks left to apply for the GCI Fellowship 2019!

  • Commit to attending the Summit in Tokyo, Japan from July 25 - August 3, 2019, in its entirety, as part of the GCI Fellowship

  • Learn new ways of thinking such as Harkness* (Discussion-Based Learning) and the Design Thinking Methodology

*Harkness is a registered trademark of Phillips Exeter Academy

  • Begin working on a Glocal Service Project to tackle a global issue in your local community

  • Develop your leadership skills and participate in group discussions with a cohort from around the world

  • Celebrate what each person can bring from their personal experiences and share your own

  • Commit to launching a Glocal Service Project during the 9 months post-Summit


  • If applicant's first language or secondary school's language of instruction is not English, official English language test scores (e.g. TOEFL) are required

  • The application requires an application fee

  • Need-based financial aid is available on a limited basis; financial aid need must be indicated and all forms completed during the initial application

  • The Yomiuri Educational Network invites those from their participating schools to apply for a scholarship to attend the GCI Fellowship or Seminar; see more details here
