Welcome to Global Citizens Initiative. Thank you for visiting our website and we are glad you are here. This is our Privacy Policy. It describes for you the various ways we collect, use, and share information about you when you visit our websites located at https://www.globalci.org (the “Website”). This Privacy Policy does not apply to any other website, service, or application of Global Citizens Initiative or any websites, services, or applications linked to or from the Website.

In this Privacy Policy, Global Citizens Initiative is sometimes referred to simply as “we”, “our”, or “us”. This Privacy Policy is a legally binding agreement between Global Citizens Initiative and you, so please read it carefully. If you do not agree to terms of this Privacy Policy, you may not use the Website. This Privacy Policy is subject to, and made a part of, the Terms of Use available here.

If you have reason to believe that we have collected any personal information from someone under thirteen years of age, please have the child’s parent or guardian contact us as directed in Section 8.

    • Please note that once we share your personal information with another company in the above circumstances, the information received by the other company is controlled by that company and becomes subject to the other company’s privacy practices.

  • When companies perform services on our behalf; and

  • When we share your personal information with third parties in connection with the sale of our business or other corporate event, to enforce our Terms of Use or rules, to ensure the safety and security of our users and third parties, to protect our rights and property and the rights and property of our users and third parties, to comply with legal process, or in other cases if we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law.

 

We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information.

 

5. Third Party Sites

Global Citizens Initiative may include or offer links to certain external resources, including websites, apps, or platforms unaffiliated with or not controlled by Global Citizens Initiative, such as links to social media platforms (“External Sites”). The Privacy Policy does not apply to External Sites and we are not responsible for the privacy policies or practices of External Sites or your use of the External Sites. Please read the policies and practices of External Sites before accessing or using them.

 

For example, when you make a donation to Global Citizens Initiative via the Website, the terms and privacy policy of our payment vendor apply, and not our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Similarly, when you apply to be a Mentor or Fellow, the privacy policy of our third-party application platform applies.

 

6. Security and Retention of Your Information

The security of your information is important to us. We have implemented commercially reasonable security measures that are designed to protect your information from unauthorized access, disclosure, use, and modification. We regularly review our security procedures to consider appropriate new technology and methods. Please be aware that, despite our efforts, no measures are perfect or 100% secure.

 

Global Citizens Initiative will retain your personal information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law. When your personal information is no longer required by Global Citizens Initiative, we will delete your personal information.

From time to time, we may change this Privacy Policy to accommodate new technologies, industry practices, regulatory requirements, or for other purposes. We will provide notice to you if these changes are material and, if required by applicable law, we will obtain your consent.
