Alumni In Action: Asrat Alemu (2014 GCI Fellow)

Alumni in Action: 2014 GCI Fellow Asrat shares his career journey in the sports industry, from studying business and sports at Stanford University to landing a role as Chief of Staff with the Washington Commanders NFL team after sending a cold email to its president. Today, he continues to champion equity in sports through his work with Project Level, investing in women’s sports initiatives.

Asrat says, “Breaking into the sports industry was a big one for me. I don’t have family members who are friends with team owners or who have deep connections in the sports industry, so I kind of had to figure it out by myself. It took me several years of applications, and interviews, and cold emails, and preparation to finally have my break.”
