GCI Applications 2020 Are Open!

Please note: change in location and revised dates (December 12, 2019).

GCI is thrilled to announce that applications for the Seventh Annual GCI Fellowship launching with the 8-day GCI Summit at the University of St Andrews in Scotland from July 23 to July 31, 2020 are now open!

We are also pleased to announce that applications for the Third Annual GCI Seminar for Secondary School Educators taking place at the University of St Andrews in Scotland from July 27 to July 30, 2020 are now open!

The Fellowship


  • Secondary school students (current Freshmen, Sophomores or Juniors at the time of application, who will be 16-19 years old by July 23, 2020)

  • If applicant's first language or secondary school's language of instruction is not English, official English language test scores (e.g. TOEFL) are required

  • Students with global leadership potential who want to make a positive difference in the world

  • Eager to participate in group discussions about global issues


  • Must commit to attend the Summit at the University of St Andrews in Scotland from July 23 - July 31, 2020, in its entirety, as part of the GCI Fellowship

  • Must commit to the 10-Month Fellowship to launch a "Glocal" Service Project

Application Deadline: February 3, 2020 at 11:59PM EST

The Seminar


  • Secondary school educators and administrators interested in empowering youth

  • Educators who possess a highly developed proficiency in spoken and written English

  • Educators aspiring to include Discussion-Based Learning, the Design Thinking method and Human Connectivity (the GCI Method) in their classroom

  • Educators interested in preparing students for leadership roles and initiating positive change in their own communities


  • Must commit to attend the Seminar at the University of St Andrews in Scotland from July 27 - July 30, 2020, in its entirety

  • Complete all pre- and any post-program requirements

Application Deadline: March 16, 2020 at 11:59PM EST

  • Need-based financial aid is available on a limited basis; need must be demonstrated and all forms completed within the initial application
